The insurance professionals at Reliant Insurance Adjusters are very experienced in the binding dispute resolution option of appraisal. The Reliant team are experts in acting as appraisers and as umpires for this process.
Your insurance policy may contain language providing for appraisal as a way to resolve differences. Not every policy is the same, however, insurance policies contain the following dispute resolution language:
Appraisal. If you and we fail to agree on the actual cash value, amount of loss, or cost of repair or replacement, either can make a written demand for appraisal. Each party will then select a competent, independent, appraiser and notify the other of the appraiser's identity within 20 days of receipt of the written demand. The two appraisers will choose an umpire. If they cannot agree upon an umpire within 15 days, you or we may request that the choice be made by a judge of a district court of a judicial district where the loss occurred. The two appraisers will then set the amount of loss, stating separately the actual cash value and loss to each item.
This is a binding process and you want to make sure that:
1. You have complied with all post loss requirements
2. That the dispute is exclusive to the amount of the covered loss
3. That you have an experienced team member from Reliant Insurance Adjusters who are proud members of the Insurance Appraisal & Umpire Association and Windstorm
Insurance Network representing your interest.
Scott Scovin and Karen Schiffmiller have completed all of their education requirements with these respected organizations. You can be sure your claim will be well represented in the appraisal process when you select Reliant Insurance Adjusters as your insurance claim appraiser.
